what about when u want to change ur character names it has to pass a check to see if ur previous (current) name has been flagged or reported?

I recently just got married IG, but because of the limitations, I can't change my character's last name to my husbands. From an RPer's standpoint - yes, we do exist - something like this could be extremely useful.

Something like this would be very appreciated at the cost of something large. 50-100 skill points, for instance, could be a foreseeable cost in my eyes. By the time you have ~100 skill points, its pretty evident you're dedicated to the character.

Phoenix of War also brings up extremely valid points. Perhaps the original character name would remain in databases, just that a recognizable character name overlap could be programmed?

This is a great idea but limited to a few changes or it would get out of hand maybe an npc that changes your name the first 2 or 3 times would be free but after that it would be like 25k

I made a typo with my monk's name, but didn't realize it until later on. If one more noob points my mistake out, I'm going to rip their arms off and use them to bludgeon them.

I honestly can't think that there's much of any argument against this, to be honest. If given the correct limitations to prevent gold sellers/bots/scammers from switching names after every transaction, then there shouldn't be any problems.

I can't imagine it would detract the dev team all that much from GW2, either.

Although to deter character name hijacking I’d prefer that you can only change name of a character with another character already on your account. So for example, if you have a necro you hardly ever play but prefer that name over the character of your main you could change it.

the limitations should be a number of use per account

ie: 1x per cdkey added or something

or for those always asking for hair/face change/survivor for older chars
->1 time fullreroll, recreating the char and keeping its stuff but at quite an expensive price

anyway, about namechange it can be done, since you have to rename it in case its flagged as "inappropriate"
ANet cant say "sry, cant be done, complicated coding, blahblahblah"

No I am against this idea as it would allow black listed or otherwise bad players or griefers to hide themselves in the shadows by changing their names. SO, this is a BIG NO here on this. You should have thought more about your name before making it thus you should have to live with your mistakes.

I just read through the guild wars support site while looking for something unrelated to this but i found this interesting, Highlighted the important part.

This can be accomplished with an option window that will be offered once the account suspension is over.

Basicaly we know it's possible to change names just by reading that, I wonder what is really stopping this feature being added. Here is the [Link].

So, wait, I'm supposed to stay with the same name because I should have apprehended that I would eventually meet someone and got married and chose his surname before I even knew he exist? People should have to stay with a name they just don't like? Blacklisted status should not be a problem if there's regulations.

Didn't Anet unofficially announce that they had plans for something like this ages ago?

Seeing as Guild Wars' community is massive, you never really run into the same person twice, so I can't see why not. Though it may be sensible to make sure people can't change their names more than once a week/month, to avoid abuse.

Thank you I already knew that. And if you want to get married and play around with surnames you can do that in real life not in the game. A game is a game with rules and rules in a game should be adhered to. There were no plans to change this feature it was just something they were looking into, but, have realized that people could then grief even more and then hide behind another name thus it has not been implemented and doubtful to ever be now. Yes you should have to stay with a name if you don't like it and that's the way it is this date in GW 2007. <smile>

Its really not as easy as it sounds. I want to change my warrior's name/gender but there is no way I'm going to delete and start over because I've put in hundreds of hours and platinum in it over a span of two years
